Final Days of Siggraph

So Siggraph is coming to a close, sadness all around. This week has been absolutely spectacular.

So yesterday, I spent my time in E-Tech with Yoichi Ochiai (http://jisechi.com/), who's really awesome. He's come all the way from Tokyo to display his work on Texture technologies.
Most people coming to the booth were absolutely amazed with the psychedelic nature of the project. It's comprised of lots of spinning black and white discs, with a strobe light beating down on them. When you look at them your brain depicts colours. The faster the discs spin causes different patterns, and when you take away the strobing light, for pure white light, the discs look as if they are made out of metal.

Really fascinating!

So many cool things to see. from 3D printers, texture tech, animation, the "Mommy Tummy", etc. pure awesomeness.
I spent my afternoon chilling in the Student Volunteer office, listening to a talk by EA on what they do, how ridiculously cool it is to work there, and how you can become a part of the team.

Great info for up and comers, but must admit, when you haven't done a lot in 3D animation and rigging, it's a little dis-heartening to hear what they want in a new grad. This just proves gotta get my butt in gear and learn that 3D and be MIND BLOWING at it!

Today is the final day at Siggraph, so here's the plan:

we'll start with a resume and portfolio review by the pros, Then head out to the exhibition floor and drop off some business cards and resumes to the job fair (plus grab some free swag of course)

We'll end the day by signing out, checking out the volunteer raffle, and then head home for some well needed rest.

To sum this up, if you weren't a part of siggraph...be a part at the next conference! If you were a part of siggraph...BOO YA! if you don't know what Siggraph is? Look it up and become a part of the epicness!

This is a great place to be if you're a student wanting to get into computer graphics and animation. this is where the cool kids hang out!
